KEEYA Drops Visuals for “Faded” at Screening Party

It was not so long ago when we featured new artist KEEYA and her smooth, hit single “Faded.” Well over the weekend, KEEYA dropped the visuals for the song at a music video release party at Studio Cafe. But before the crowd of eager fans got to see the full video, she treated the crew to a great performance. eLIFE242 was in the building to capture it all.

On the balcony, outdoors, surrounded by music lovers of all kinds, over looking the beach, KEEYA belted out some originals as well as covers for some of our favorite songs by Beyonce, Rihanna, Drake, and even 90’s star Tamia. It was great vibes and great feelings all night long as we dined on finger foods and sipped on our fave potions.

After the performance the party moved downstairs for the screening.

“This has been an incredible process and I’ve gotten the chance to work with the most creative and fiercely talented people” KEEYA explained. “I am so excited to finally share the finished product with everyone.”

The video was directed by award winning Bahamian film maker Kareem Mortimer and the song and video tell the familiar narrative of that one night in every young adult’s life when they’ve had one drink, and one thought too many.

To pen the midnight confessional, KEEYA enlisted longtime friend, collaborator and singer/songwriter in his own right, Rashad Leamount.

“It’s an ode to the ex you can’t quite get out of your system” he says. “The bible of bad decisions and heartbreak.”

The single became an immediate social media sensation creating an intense local buzz which KEEYA parlayed into a center stage performance at Nassau’s premier art festival: Transforming Spaces.

KEEYA’s unique vocal style – which is deeply rooted in traditional R&B and amplified by hip-hop and trap music influences – is matched by her edgy personal style; a nod to the ultimate 90’s girl: cool, confident and self-assured.

The “Faded” video brings back that old school R&B feel and plunges you back in a time when music videos actually told a story!
