Bahamian hip hop artist Jay Complex drops the long awaited mixtape “Underdog”. After months of hype, this blend of melodic hip hop sounds is definitely one to cop. Using the old school cartoon “Underdog” as the backdrop to this tape Jay Complex ( als0 a member of Bahamian hip hop group B.A.S.S. ) chronicles his life as the Underdog in the local hip hop industry using some classic hip hop beats and some unorthodox rhythms ( a fav of ours here at elife 242 is “Insomniac ) . This tape has definitely taken Jay Complex to another level in the game and has solidified him as an official member of the 242 hip hop squad. When asked about “Underdog” here is what Jay had to say
Underdog…has been my life…people confuse an “underdog” with being someone that never wins…truth being, the underdog is never EXPECTED to win…however, it only fuels their desire to come out on top even more, basically I am the 2010 saints!!! lol so it was inspired by every day that I have lived up to this point, and musically from the day I started and was constantly ridiculed and encouraged to give it up…but here I am, and if the “Underdog” project is not a super bowl winning version of a mixtape, I don’t kno what is!
